How long does it take to get my Sky Lanterns delivered?

Assuming your order meets our minimum for delivery, our Sky Lanterns are sent out either by messenger service or courier.  A lead time of 5 working days is needed upon receipt of at least 50% down payment.

Do Sky Lanterns harm the environment?

Absolutely NOT! Unlike fireworks, Sky Lanterns are made from biodegradable materials; Mulberry paper and a natural bamboo rim. Once the wick has burned out the lanterns float gracefully to the ground.

Are there any important safety features to be aware of?

Sky Lanterns Involve Fire. As a result, you must be cautious, as you would with fireworks or any other flammable resource and open flame. Our safety instructions are included in the pack and this website. Please read them carefully and adhere to them to ensure that you gain the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from your Sky Lanterns.

How do you light them?

They are lit from the wick using a flame, a lighter being more appropriate.
The wick should be left to burn for approximately 10 seconds until the wick is sufficiently lit to allow the lantern to fill with hot air.

What are the best conditions to release them in? Can they be used when it is raining?

Launching Sky Lanterns is best done in 8-10 kph in open spaces and clear or cloudy skies.  They can be used when it is drizzling or lightly raining, but we advise against using them in heavy downpours or thunderstorms.

Are they easy to assemble and release yourself?

Yes, they arrive to you in a flat pack with assembly and safety instructions. They are simple to assemble and release, do not require the use of any tools and just a little safety sense!

Can I take my lanterns on an aircraft?

Flying lanterns are not like traditional fireworks and do not have an explosive element. Simply pack them carefully into your suitcase (not in hand luggage). However, if in doubt, please note that it is advisable to check with the airline as each individual airline may have their own policy.

How long do Sky lanterns fly for?

Sky lanterns fly for many miles and as far into the distance as the eye can see. The wick can burn up too 20minutes before extinguishing and floating softly back to the ground.

Can the lanterns be attached to the ground?

Absolutely not!

After the lantern completes its flight, will it cause fire once it returns to the ground?

Sky Lantern can only come down once the wick has totally burnt out, so when it comes down there is no longer a wick hence, no longer any flame

If for some reason it does not complete its flight and hits a roof or tree or overhead cables -- is the paper retardant enough to kill the fire of the wick?

For the launch space described, you should only use Sky Lanterns.  The launch should be made in conditions where there is only 1-5kph wind and the wind direction has been determined.

What kind of gas is used in Bio balloons?

Bio balloons are meant to be used with helium gas only. Helium is safe because it is non-combustible, tasteless, odorless, and nontoxic. Anyone could use it without any special experience.

How do you insert helium into Bio balloons?

Because helium is difficult to insert directly from the tank, we at Sky Lanterns recommend that you use a pressure regulator to control the pressure at which the helium leaves the tank. With a pressure regulator anyone can inflate balloons these can be inflated at any balloon shops (approx 0.30pence a balloon) or at any venue which normally have their own helium tank

How long does it take to inflate Bio balloons?

Provided that you are using a tank equipped with a pressure regulator, the inflation times for our Bio balloons takes 20 seconds

Do Bio balloons burst when helium is inserted into them?

When inflating a balloon, the balloon will take on its shape and begin to slowly float. That signals that there is a sufficient amount of helium in the balloon. If too much helium is inserted into the balloon, part of the balloon will abnormally expand and a short puffing sound will be heard meaning that the balloon has been ruptured. Unlike with conventional rubber balloons, a pop sound will not be heard. Ruptured balloons will not float, so please dispose of them properly.

If we plan on releasing many Bio balloons at once, how should we keep them together until the release?

We recommend keeping each balloon tied to a long rope until its release. Bio balloons are equipped with a paper string that can be tied to the rope. When the time comes for releasing the balloons, the fastest way is to cut the paper strings from the rope using scissors.

How long will Bio balloons float for when tied to the rope?

We recommend that Bio balloons stay grounded for no longer than 10 hours. Though the average float time for Bio balloons is 20 hours, they need time to float away into the sky, so we recommend that the balloons remain on the rope for no longer than 10 hours.

How fast do Bio balloons rise up into air?

Unlike rubber balloons, Bio balloons rise a lot more slowly. Although wind is also a factor, models like our bio Dove Balloon, float into the sky at a slower pace.

How long to Bio balloons float for?

After being inflated with helium, the balloons are known to float for more than 20 hours. Of course, the amount of time an inflated balloon on the rope has been grounded for should also be considered.

What happens when a Bio balloon falls to the ground?

When sunlight (UV rays) hit Bio balloons, the materials inside the balloons begin to decompose. Eventually the balloon will break down into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass.
